So basically, this is one of those memes where someone tagged me with five words she associated with me (
fearfulwarrior, in this case), and I have to talk about them. So if you want to do this too, just give me a shout with WORDS! and I'll give you the words I most associate with YOU! :D
Ace Attorney: This is the game series that really made me get interested in video games. I mean, I'd played Pokemon before it and all, and I'm still just a casual gamer, but... I'd only ever seen video games as the first person shooters that are so popular here in the U.S. You know, the Doom series, and Halo, and Grand Theft Auto. And, while those games are fine for a little bit (not my cup of tea, but for others)... the level to which people get obsessed with them are ridiculous. And then I played Ace Attorney. And it was incredible! It was an actually intelligent game- I really had to think while playing it, and it was a facinating story, and truly interactive... it was just awesome, and it's my favorite game series. Period.
New York: GREATEST. CITY. IN. THE. WORLD. I'm sorry to those who live on other cities. I'm sure they're very nice, and there are other cities that are awesome- L.A. is so cool, London is awesome, Toronto has the awesome big city vibe which I love but is still so chill, and my first choice college is in Chicago, and Boston is... well, the city is cool. The Red Sox suck. And I am one of those tourists who goes around in full Yankee regalia screaming "LET'S GO YANKEES!!!"... but only because I'm in a big group, and would never do so on my own (I value my life, thank you very much). But the city is cool. But as someone who was born and raised in New York, I can say that it is the most amazing place ever, it is the capitol in the world, and while I'm sure other cities have nice sights, nothing will ever come close to Times Square- especially at night.
Cosplay: Wow. Where do I even begin here? Cosplay is one of the most fun things a person can do. Period. I have never gone to a con without a cosplay, I make the cosplays my friends wear too (they're not always very good, particularly because I have to hand sew everything *has no sewing machine, or even the money for one*, but... I make them) and... cosplay is just amazing. It offers an escape- I don't have to be me, someone I don't always like,* but... I can be Mai from Avatar. Or Haruhi Fujioka from Ouran. Or, most popularly, Maya Fey from Ace Attorney. People actually know me as that Maya cosplayer in the Northeast US conventions!! I've actually had people come up to me and ask "Do you always cosplay Maya?" and it makes me really happy! It's nice to be known~ Also, with cosplay, it means I get to run around and glomp people and have them glomp me and want my picture and... it's everything I want. To be noticed. To be special. I mean, I am an actress- I love the spotlight, and I always get it in cosplay.
*I certainly don't dislike myself- I actually have fairly high self-esteem. But... nobody can love themselves all the time.
Ouran: Dude, I love the anime so much it's scary. It's everything I love in a shojo, without it taking itself too seriously- it even pokes fun at itself occasionally!! Even if the ending wasn't all it could be... it's still awesome. Plus, the guys are gorgeous, which, to a single girl like myself, is very important. And it's also really sweet. Like, it's a romantic comedy and all, but it's not cliche'd or anything- it's just fun, and sweet, and I constantly want to glomp everyone in it. All the time. And then the manga is a lot of fun too- I only have the first 10 volumes, but... I only have so much money, you know!! Also, people never have the volumes I want- I was in Borders the other day, and I wanted to get the 10th one, and they had 2-9 and 11. I MEAN REALLY, THE ONE VOLUME I WANTED TO GET IS THE ONE VOLUME THEY DON'T HAVE. But it's all just amazing.
Plus, they've created practically my perfect guy in Kyouya Ootori. Not only is he drop-dead gorgeous (with GLASSES. Yes, they are very important), but he's also incredibly intelligent, clever, witty, capable, and although he seems cold on the outside, he really is sweet and caring on the inside... but you have to find that out for yourself, which I love. Plus, he's clearly an incredible actor- look at all he does in the Host Club! And he thinks differently from everyone else, which is the biggest factor- I always love guys who think differently. He was born as the third son with absolutely no chance of inheriting the family everything, and most people would just lie back and do nothing because hey- they're still set for life! But not only does he still want to take over the family... everything, he enjoys trying to get it- he sees it as the most interesting game he could possibly play. No one else thinks like that... that's why I love him. XD
...I went on about that for FAR longer than I'd intended... XD
Avatar: Avatar: The Last Airbender is quite possibly my first fandom. Like, true fandom where I joined the fan communities and everything. It may technically be a cartoon, but it's genuinely funny. And thoughtful. And it has a real story. And a message. And it could be deadly serious when it wanted to be. And it was just everything one could hope for in a television show at all. AND NOW THEY'RE SCREWING UP THE MOVIE. Well, to be fair, I haven't seen the teaser trailers yet. I just disapprove of the casting. I may still go see it anyway though... just so I can know what I'm talking about if I dislike it. Because I hate it when people bash things they haven't even seen/read/played. But... Avatar is a genuinely awesome fandom, and it was my first, and I do love it, no matter what M. Night Shyamalan may be doing to it.
...Wow, I didn't think this would be this long!! Like, all of it... I didn't know I could go on this much!!
Also, while I'm doing memes...
