NaNoWriMo Day 1: ~4 pages, 1,908 words. Not bad for the first day.

...Of course, I also haven't gotten any of my homework done or anything... but shhh. That's what November's going to be like.

It's NaNoWriMo flist... so I need a good distraction. So... what's up? How's about this- comment on this post with something. Anything. Anything completely random. The first thing that pops into your head. And we'll have a conversation about it. Because we can.

...Just do it. For me? Please?

I'm learning to crochet very small things, with thread. I want to move on to lace, once I get good.

I can't find anyone who cares, so I'm kidnapping you.

Really? That's actually pretty cool. Is that how you make lace, or...?

Technically, lace can be made in a million different ways - in its purest form, it's done with just a needle and thread - but you can crochet it, too. Right now what I'm doing is really small, really girly stuff. I'm trying to make some sort of a wrap/shawl, like something really small and lacy that you can wear around your shoulders with a formal dress, but I'm not really sure. I'm not really good at it, yet.

Well, it makes sense that you're not, if you only just started. That's pretty amazing though, if you can make it that long... that would be pretty intense. I used to try to crochet... but I forgot how ages ago... and then I did it with a regular crocheting needle and yarn... I wouldn't have had the patience for anything else.

Oh, honestly, I like it better with this small stuff. It feels less trashy to me, and I can make a small motif in five to ten minutes' time, and then I feel accomplished. With bigger things, it takes forever.

Well, I suppose that makes sense. I wouldn't really know- I've never been able to finish anything of the sort- I'd be all motivated at first, but then I'd get bored with it, and then I'd find something else to do...

Yeah, I'm honestly amazed I've managed so far.

If I make something brilliant, though, you want an exciting, super-classy Christmas present?

Date: 2009-11-03 12:13 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] arthoniel.livejournal.com
Wait, seriously? Because I actually really love stuff like that- it always looks really classy~

Mmm, I still have to figure out what I'm giving you for Christmas myself...

Seriously. Tell me what you want and I will learn how to make it, because you are an awesome friend and I have never in all of the years of knowing you given you a present except when I bought you a paid account, which hardly qualifies.

From: [identity profile] arthoniel.livejournal.com
That absolutely qualifies as a gift... but thanks~ I honestly don't know though... maybe something to wear around the neck? Small, but classy...

I'm gonna try and write something today... D:

You should!! It's good for you~ It has something to do with creativity and... something. I dunno. But I've heard it's good for you.

Can you imagine if eyes were vertical instead of horizontal?

And so you did~

Date: 2009-11-02 03:37 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] arthoniel.livejournal.com
At first I thought that'd be wierd... but that could actually kinda work. Wouldn't be able to flutter your eyelashes a well, but it could balance out the face some. No, to balance out the face you'd also have to make the mouth vertical... but that could work too.

I always obey a command

What I wonder is, is would eyebrows be smaller, exactly the same, or would they be to the side?

And it is appreciated!

Date: 2009-11-03 12:18 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] arthoniel.livejournal.com
I think it depends which way the eyes face- like, which way the eyes close. If they both close to one side, they'd probably be smaller... but if they both close inward, towards the nose, then the eyebrows would probably be on the sides of the face... at least, that's how I see it.

1908 words not bad.

I only have 700 right now. Been crazy here today with Owen and my hubby.

Yeah... I've been there. I don't know how I'm going to manage with school...

Hopefully I can do better tomorrow.

I do have a bunch more ideas dealing with my story but I kind of wish I wasn't lazy last month. I didn't even make an outline. I think it might be hard because of that.

Date: 2009-11-03 12:22 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] arthoniel.livejournal.com
Yeah, I get that. I made, like, half an outline... but I usually just wing it anyway. Not always the best strategy, but... eh. Whatever works, you know? XD

Yesterday, I ended up outline a prologue and chapter one. It seem to help. I have no clue what to even do for second chapter and beyond.

It seemed Outline complete idea for me doesn't usual work well but if I do chapter by chapter after I finish previous chapter works better.

I suppose that makes sense. I have a general idea of where I want to go, but... your strategy might work better. I just don't have the patience to actually sit down and outline it. XD

not being able to find names/titles of people who work in mental hospitals is really starting to piss me off. how am i supposed to write my NANO fic(s) if I can't even do the research?

and yes, i'm not supposed to research or nit-pick it, but it's just this one thing and i'm going to be using the title a LOT and it's going to drive me crazy and urgh.

Date: 2009-11-02 03:40 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] arthoniel.livejournal.com
You can't find the titles? That's wierd... you'd think that they'd at least have that... I dunno man. I guess just call them doctors?

Date: 2009-11-02 03:53 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kurasari.livejournal.com
lol unfortunately he's not a doctor, he's more of the muscle that helps give medicine and restrain patients when they become violent.

From: [identity profile] arthoniel.livejournal.com
Ohh... yeah, I don't know that one. Hmm... Google-fu it?

Hey, I don't know you.

But what specifically do you need to know?

Date: 2009-11-02 03:52 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kurasari.livejournal.com
WAI HALLO THAR STRANGAR! 8B

um, one of my characters works as a one of the big muscle-y guys that restrain the volatile patients. I want to call him an orderly, though I've no clue why, and my google skills seem to be failing me as I've not been able to find a proper title for his job.

Oh, that's a problem. Everywhere I know, it's mostly doctors and nurses and EMTs that do that, as it's needed, and when people get really out of hand, they call in security.

I only have any knowledge at all with general hospitals, though, and not even specifically the psych wards of those. If you're on the NaNo site, have you tried asking in the character and plot realism boards? Until then, you can just do JOBTITLE or something and find-and-replace when you come up with something better.

Oh Random Stranger, how I love you for suggesting something that I should-have-but-never-would-have thought about trying. Thank you so much, I think I shall ask around those NaNo boards.

xD Awesome, and you're totally welcome. I'm Tori, by the way. It's a pleasure to be of assistance to a fellow NaNoer. Just make sure to take what they say on the boards with a few grains of salt.

I'm replaying Assassin's Creed and remembering just how mightily AWESOME it is. And the sequel is out in two weeks! I'm so excited!

Assassin's Creed? I've heard of that one, but not much about it... is it any good?

From: [identity profile] aerodactylus.livejournal.com
It's AWESOME (as I said XD). You play an assassin during the third crusade (1191 AD, to be precise). There's also a cool sci-fi frame story.

Really? That sounds... pretty awesome. XD Maybe I should try picking it up... what platform is it for?

Date: 2009-11-03 04:48 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] aerodactylus.livejournal.com
PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. I believe the sequel is going to be for the same platforms. The sequel takes place during the Italian Renaissance, circa 1470. I'm so excited.

Hmm... cool. I have neither a PS3 or an Xbox 360, but if I ever have the money, I may pick it up for my PC... it sounds like it's so cool!!
