...There will be a post about how incredibly happy I am at this moment soon, I promise. And I apologize in advance for the double-posting spam you're gonna get.

But I figured that this is important enough.

God, I want the FCKH8 shirt so bad. Like, I don't even. Oh, the joys of being poor. But nonetheless!! It's important.

Also, totally not safe for work. Just so you know. But important.

I like the shirt...
but I think the campaign is horrible :\

I support equality in human rights, and this video made me NOT want to support gay marriage. AND THIS IS COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN SUPPORTING GAY RIGHTS SINCE SHE WAS 15.

- It's EXTREMLY agressive. I know they're angry, and they have all the right to be so, but there was a moment in which it seemed more vengeful than serious.

- The part with them kissing to PROVOKE, to "disturb" people who are against gay marriage, and then claiming this is celebrating LOVE.

- The kids cursing. This is actually counter-productive, because they're sending the message that "kids from queer homes are rude" (we know ALL kids curse, but here it's almost like they're showing it off).

- The part with the guy losing his shirt and the trans-gender woman joking about being straight. They don't make me think they're SERIOUS. In that respect, this video transmitted me this vast range of emotions: angry, playful, lusty, provocative, menacing. I didn't get SERIOUS at all.

- Christians are not the only ones who oppose homosexuality.

- They talk about this issue as if it was something you just "GET OVER." As if it was something simple. Now, here's the thing: Ignorance is not something you GET OVER (I believe people who oppose homoseuality are just ignorant... they just don't UNDERSTAND what they're doing, and they need to be taught... and I've experienced it first-hand with my mom, who, I don't know how, finally got over her homophobia). It actually ends up coming up as kind of intolerant. As wrong and inhumane these beliefs might be, they're other people's beliefs. You can't tell them to IGNORE them, you have to work with them and help them realize they're wrong.

- The background music was horrible

- It's not a good idea to suggest divorce should be banned for straight people. Divorced women, and single mothers still face a lot of discrimmination. They are, unintentionally, passing the hot seat to people who also have it bad. Also, if you "banned divorce for the sake of keeping the marriage institution from being tainted" you would be affecting a shitload of battered women. Just saying.

- something else.

To me, this is a serious issue that shouldn't be trivialized. And this video gave me trite vibes. The only one I could take seriously was the girl in the pink hoodie, everybody else made me think of stereotypes.

...Yes.

I think, for the most part, you're right. This came off as significantly more angry than anything else.

But... I also think that that's kind of the point. That people are angry enough that they don't have the rights they deserve to create videos like this. To not be able to think calmly and rationally about it.

Also, a lot of stuff was done in there for the shock value. But it shouldn't be. It's why there was the gay kissing, and they were cursing and everything. To dull the shock value of it all.

I suppose, in the end, to each their own. I mean, there's a certain point where I highly doubt that anyone who's actually anti-gay would really watch this. So it doesn't really matter in the end. But it's a message that I still totally support.

...And they have great shirts. XD

LOL, in that case, WHY ARE THEY YELLING AT ME ; ^;
I ALREADY KNOW THOSE THINGS ; ^;
(and have yelled at people about it XD to me, it's ETERNALLY annoying, that people are being denied their human rights just because some other people feel entitled... because a book full of stories MIGHT OR MIGHT HAVE NOT SAID it was wrong [given that most people who openly protest and have campaigns and actual power are Christian extremists... no, I'm not contradicting my previous comment, I'm making a specification based on observation, and accepting they are not the only ones who oppose homosexuality]...)

I'm not saying it's bad to support this message. I'm just saying the commercial could have been better :\

But yes, the shirts are AWESOME <3

Sure, the commercial could have been better. But it's still a general message that ought to be spread. And the shiiiiirrrrrrtttttttsssss!!! XD

1:44 Oh, honey. D: Put the shirt back on and eat something. Please? Here, you can have the rest of my burger.

The girl in the pink hoodie reminds me painfully of Jewel Staite. She even sounds like her!
