So... I'm one of the crazy people on the internet who actually went and saw The Last Airbender. Like, I went to the midnight, opening showing. In full costume. (I was the only one, by the way. It was kind of hilarious.  XD)

But anyway... I do rational reviews here.

The Last Airbender- Pros, Cons, and Neutrals. Minor to major spoilers, depending on how much of the original series you've seen... I think. )

Overall? I think that The Last Airbender was hilarious, but for all the wrong reasons. The best part of watching the film was, at the end during that bowing thing when Aang bowed back to the Water Tribe, some guy in the back of the theater shouted out "THIS IS BULLSHIT!!". It was awesome.

It seems a lot, as a friend pointed out to me, like the creators of the movie *coughMNightShyamalamadingdongcough* went and said to themselves "Hmm. How can we alienate the fanbase of this franchise as much as humanly possible, while at the same time making the movie so intricate and ridiculous that no one but the fanbase of this franchise will be able to understand it?"
In all fairness, I don't know if that's 100% true- I'm such a fan of the original show that I have problems trying to separate the original series from the movie, I don't know. But it certainly seemed that way to me.

In short, I think that this film actually is worth seeing. I really did have a good time, going to see it. You want to go see it with friends who you can whisper to during the film so you can make fun of it in your seat, but it is still fun to see. It's ridiculous and absurd and hilarious when it's supposed to be serious, but... it is worth the watch. If only so you can say you've seen it and can therefore legitamately bitch about it yourself~  XD
