So. I discovered D. Gray Man, the Abridged Series. I have never seen/read D. Gray Man, but a friend reccomended it to me, and... HOLY SHIT IT'S EPIC. And it makes the fact that I actually own a ShamWOW that much funnier. GO WATCH IT. IT'S ON TEH YOUTUBES.

I'm also finally watching the Death Note anime since I NOW HAVE THE INTERNETS WITH WHICH TO WATCH IT. IT'S AMAZING. It's so well animated, and dubbed so well!! (Yes, I am watching the English dub. I know that the Japanese is the original and all, but I like actually understanding what's being said without having to watch the text flying across the screen more than the animation itself.) Only through episode 7 on my computer though... and then I'm recording from episode 8 on on my TiVo!! DVRs are a beautiful thing.

Lastly... I kinda want to do a voice post. No, I don't know why. But... I dunno what I should do. So... any ideas for voice post memes or anything?

You know, I watched the first half of Death Note, but never finished it. Then I read a volume or two of the manga from where I left off in the anime and.. huh. You know, I still don't know how that series ends.

Do the voice post, have fun with it. It's just something to do random postings with anyway. xD

Wow, really?? When I first got into it, I literally couldn't put it down...

And yeah, I probably will! I just need something to say... XD

I love subtitles forever ):

Really? I mean, I totally understand preferring subtitles when it's a terrible dub but... I dunno. Even if Japanese is the original, I just like dubs better than subs.

I always prefer the original version over the dubbed version.

I mean, I used to love dubbed anime, but for some years now, studios have been comissioning south american dubbing houses to do that work, instead of the mexican ones. And, I don't mean to sound racist, but they really suck D:

Really? Maybe it's one of the differences between English and Spanish dubs- for English dubs there are a select few companies that do the dubs for everything, but they're all excellent. A lot of them use the same voice actors over and over and over again, and if one of them refuses to do a certain anime, the others will usually follow so it simply won't get dubbed into English and all... but when they actually do thier dubs, they're always fantastic.

It's a real pity, because Mexican dubs are some of the best in the world (in my opinion).
Have a couple of examples:

Digimon

and The Simpsons

Sadly, AVATAR was dubbed in like, Venezuela or something like that. Not only was it horribly dubbed, the translation work was also a disaster T____T

Well, you're young, but IN MY DAYS, it was considered a SIN to even consider watching anime in English.

I do not watch anime in English to this day, it just feels weird to hear all the mispronounced "r"s and the vowels.

Huh... those are really good... personally, I still love my English anime, but... I'm surprised. I should really watch more stuff in Spanish myself- see if I can understand it all and everything... I always feel so American when it comes to other languages and me not really knowing them...

a good exercise would be to watch stuff that you have already seen in English, that way you already have an idea of what's going on and will not have as much trouble catching a word here and there :D

(I should do that with Japango XD)

Mmm, yeah, that's a good idea- I've actually been meaning to do that for the longest time with my Friends DVDs, and I just haven't gotten around to it... I need to get on that...

I'd reccomend cartoons... there's something about watching dubbed live action that is just... weird?
I dunno, it always makes me laugh XD

That's true... on the other hand, I mostly only have live action TV show DVDs... the only anime I own is the first half of Fruits Basket and then I have Avatar... and I have the Ouran DVDs that I... *ahem* borrowed from my friend, but honestly, since they were sold in the US, I don't know if any of them have the Spanish dub on them... I think it's all just English and Japanese for Furuba and Ouran, and you said that the Spanish dub of Avatar was terrible...

Date: 2009-09-16 05:05 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] engelen.livejournal.com
I don't think neither Furuba nor Ouran have been dubbed into Spanish

Yeah, I checked- they're not. And it might be because I have the FUNimation release, and I'm pretty sure they only do English dubs, but... either way, even if there is a Spanish dub, I haven't seen it, and I certainly don't have it. :/

Voice posts, you say?

Hmm, I should check out the Abridged Series for D.Gray Man, it looks like there's some cool stuff.

And I...dunno, man, when it comes to Death Note. I actually literally could not keep going once L kicked it. My already-waning interest just tumbled all the way down to zero.

Oh my god. I can't do video because I... don't have a good video camera... actually, I don't have a video camera at all, just a regular camera that technically does video but... no. But wow... I love your voice, by the way! *random*

D.Gray Man Abridged is just filled with the most random, most cracky stuff ever, but it's still really funny!! And for more than shock value too, so when you watch it for the second or third or tenth time, it's still funny. XD

Yeah, I've heard that a lot. Seriously, I know a lot of people who say that they stopped reading Death Note once he died... of course, this is all before I found out that he died, so they were also all spoiling me, but... I dunno, I have this thing that almost anytime I start something, I practically have to finish it. I almost never stop anything halfway through.

Ahahaha oh the English dub. I know Death Note was absolutely ridiculous in the Japanese dub, but for some reason it just got even more hilariously ridiculous in English.

Really? I have to admit, I've heard a lot of things used to describe Death Note, and "hilariously ridiculous" isn't one of them, but to each thier own~

...You want me to say that? Sure, why not! If I had potato chips, I'd actually eat one too... XD

I thought it was pretty good and serious the first time I watched it, but then I saw all the lulzy youtube parodies and stuff and now I can't take it seriously.

It's a line from the dub. The way it's delivered makes it funny!

Ohhh... yeah, I get that. A bit too well, actually... XD

And really? I haven't gotten there in the dub yet, but I'll look out for it~

I love Death Note! I keep meaning to watch the anime the whole way through. I have such a weird relationship with that show watched the anime like 1-14, but then I caught up to the airing schedule, and so I got bored, then I watched again, and got bored watching so I read like the last 1/2-1/3 of the series as a manga. And then after like a year or two, I finally collected all the manga and re-read them. So I guess all that's left is the anime. I get so sad once L dies, though.

I know- I can't ever re-read volume 7. Ever.

...I should probably put a spoiler warning on the comments here... they're all so filled with spoilers and stuff... I mean, I was spoiled for L's death so many times over and all, but... ^_^;;

T-there's a D.Gray-man Abridged Series? *___* (Honestly, I can only imagine the jokes write themselves in this one, D.Gray-man is already really cracktastic)

Yep!! It's totally crack-tastic and awesome. I kind of really want to watch the actual series now too- I've heard it's incredibly cracky and all, but... god, I just kind of have to now. XD

Have a link? (Which means I just watched it. Again. For the third time. Today... XD) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tkFO4psSkM

- Shamwow, lolololol it's actually pretty true lololol can't stop laughing
- lmao, what is Chi doing there?
- H & R Block.... loololololol can't stop laughing
- Hilariously enough Allen actually kind of sounds like that in the dub. D:

The series has plenty of crack combined with some really nightmarish scenes. It's worth watching until the Fourteenth arc starts because the manga and anime start deviating. It's probably a better series to watch because the art is pretty wonky and chaotic at times, but if you get hooked to the story you'll end up wanting to continue it. I hate when that happens. :|

So I have a friend who cosplays Allen Walker- next time I see him (probably at NYAF)... I actually own that exact type of orange ShamWOW, and I know he's seen this- I"m going to make him go around the con with one. XD And yeah, Abridged!Allen really kinda does sound like Todd Haberkorn!Allen... it's pretty impressive, really. XD

But yeah, I've already started watching it, and... it's totally cracky and there's barely any plot and all, but it's still so much fun! That's all I want in an anime, really~ And it's the perfect thing to follow my Death Note marathon that I had yesterday- I watched, like, five episodes of it in a row, and as much as I love Death Note, I just got so depressed... this is shonen, so it's all fightery and awesome, but it's still fun and cracky and stuff. XD
