It's agnostic, but even then there's a difference (I've been both). Atheists basically ascribe to the idea that there is NOTHING and all religion is bullshit. What gets people up in arms about the atheists is the prevalence of those holier-than-thou types, which, IMO, are just as bad as any bible-thumping fundie.
Agnostics don't think there's anything, but they acknowledge that their might be something greater than themselves. This is the quieter bunch of non-believers.
And, if I may, you're actually wrong about just being agnostic if you're not passionately atheist. I have several friends who are hardcore atheist, but they don't get up in someone's face about it. That doesn't change their belief, they're just not annoying holier-than-thou dickwads.
