Author's Notes: Once again, happy holidays!! Here's the Tokka fic I promised, and I'm sorry I'm so late with this one too... but anyways, here it is!! I hope you like it! XD The fic is based off of the song "I'd Lie" by Taylor Swift, which I don't own.
And I could tell you
Toph knew so much about Sokka, it was almost scary. Granted, it was natural that they would talk to each other the most after Katara and Aang broke of into their own little conversations, but she still remembered so much. Probably a lot more than he realized she knew.
his favorite color’s green,
Sokka never really knew why he liked that color so much. He had barely even seen green before he left the Southern Water Tribe, but it was just so… everything. It could be sharp and unrelenting like those prickly bushes he seemed to keep falling in, but it could also be soft, and sweet, and beautiful. And sometimes it could be both- sharp on the outside, but if you really looked at it, it was soft and beautiful on the inside, sort of like some people he knew. Or one in particular.
he likes to argue,
One of the basic rules that Katara established with her when she first started living with them was that Toph was never to start an argument with Sokka because, as Katara repeatedly told her, if you did, you would never shut him up. But sometimes when they weren’t with Aang and Katara, she would start one anyway because he would actually argue. He didn’t treat her like a frail, blind girl as her parents had, and he didn’t run away in fear from her because she was the Blind Bandit like so many of her opponents had done. He would actually, genuinely argue with her, and never would simply let her win. And really, sometimes losing isn’t so bad…
born on the seventeenth.
Sokka realized that despite the fact that they’d lived together for nearly half a year, he had no idea when Toph’s birthday is. He decided he had to find out, he’d made her a little wooden carving for her, sort of like the one he made for Yue except for you could actually tell what this one was… he hoped, but he needed an excuse to give it to her. He couldn’t just give her a present from out of nowhere- he had to remain aloof at this early stage after all.
His sister’s beautiful,
Toph vividly remembered the day Katara had taken her to the spa in Ba Sing Se. She had felt so pretty and girly, and she wondered if Sokka would notice her when she was all beautiful like that. Boy certainly seemed to notice Katara, so why not her too? And Toph didn’t exactly care that the other girls they had run into laughed at her and thought she was ugly, she just fervently hoped, prayed even, that Sokka didn’t feel the same way.
he has his father’s eyes,
People always said he looked just like his father. They said that it was something in the lines of their faces, the look in their eyes that made them similar- a certain kind of determination. He heard this all the time from everyone- everyone except for Toph. Of course, there is a good reason for that- she’s blind. But despite the fact that she could “see” through earth bending, he wondered if she would ever look at him, and know what he looks like.
and if you ask me if I love him, I’d lie.
