arthoniel: (Star Trek- Bondage Fun Time)
Still in San Francisco, having an awesome time... a bunch of stuff has happened, but nothing overly important. Mostly just... me being a tourist. Which I'm kind of ashamed of, but... eh.

At our hotel, we have a TV... which has a local channel that shows Scrubs for an hour and then an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation every weeknight. I kind of love it.

Alphonse is the most amazing thing ever and I love him. My new laptop, I mean. Alphonse Elric is pretty cool too, but... that's not what I'm fangasming over right now.

Ling Yao, however, IS someone I am fangasming over now. He's just so... UNF.  XD

I had some other random stuff to say, but none of it was too important... and I've been kind of blah recently anyway.

Actually, in all honestly... I'm having fun here in San Francisco, but once I stop doing things... I remember how I'm leaving for college in just over a week. And I'm excited for college, but I'm going to miss my friends at home so badly. I teared up today and everything thinking about how I'm going to have to say goodbye to Wesley on Saturday... not this Saturday, but next Saturday. And I'm going to come home often enough and all, but... it's still not the same.

*sighs* Oh well. I clearly just haven't had enough chocolate recently.  XD
arthoniel: (TWEWY- Joshua being sexy)

The Other Guys is ridiculous, stupid and just... odd. But still incredibly hilarious. I don't even know how they did it. But it was way funny.  XD

So yesterday. I got in, met up with relatives... then we had lunch, came to our hotel, hung around for a bit, went out to dinner, and then came back, and that's kind of it. I also went down, in a car, one of the hills tied for the steepest hill in San Francisco. HOLY SHIT, WE WENT DOWN A CLIFF. We just went straight down- it was freaky!!

Today, we waited in line for, like, an hour to take a bus about 10 blocks. We took the cable car from Market Street to right nearby Lombard St. But that's not important. HOLY SHIT LOMBARD STREET. It IS the curviest street in the world, and then it also just goes straight down.

Did I mention that there are streets here in San Francisco that have steps instead of sidewalk because they're just too steep to have regular sidewalk??

Nonetheless, I'm having fun.

ANYWAY. So we went down Lombard St, I'm fairly certain that we nearly died from OMG STEEP and then we went to Ghiradelli Square. There weren't as many shops as I was told there would be, but OHEMGEE GHIRADELLI CHOCOLATE. Especially their sundaes.
^Oh, and I got to meet my Nick. No, seriously, on GMSN she plays our Phoenix Wright, and since she lives nearby, I met up with her and super special awesome fun times were had. We're gonna chill when she visits New York too.

I'm telling all of this really fast, aren't I? I don't have time to write very much, since I'm sharing a room with my brother here and have to log off when he wants to go to bed... and because I don't want to bore you all with going into deep detail about everything. But yes. That was it for the past few days... so from now on, I can focus on the present!

THINGS I HAVE OBSERVED ABOUT SAN FRANCISCO:
-Holy shit this city is made of hills and they are all the steepest things ever.
-
There are really a ton of small little alleyways going off of streets in here. Ones that are small, but dark and secluded... I've realized that it would really be pretty easy for an idiot to get raped here.
-The first time I was nearby a shooting, it was here, not in New York. I find this ironic. But yeah... there was a shooting in Union Square here, and I was right off of Union Square- I was at the nearby movies- seeing The Other Guys- and... when I got out, there were police there and everything. And I find that ironic.
-San Francisco needs a better public transportation system. Because what I've seen of what they have now is pretty weak.

Lastly... I mentioned this before, but I LOVE my new laptop, Alphonse. He just works like a dream! I tell him to do something... and he does it!! It's so wonderful~

I realized I didn't post about Niagra Falls so...

Friday

Niagra Falls was amazing. It's one of those things where you see a glimpse of it through the trees in your rented car and you can't exactly believe it. The falls were absolutely fantastic. I guess they were especially awesome fore me because I'm a sucker for a waterfall anyway, and they are the mother of all waterfalls. We did this thing called Maid of the Mist which is basically a boatride that takes you right next to the Horseshoe (Canadian) falls and so we all got soaked from that but it was amazing, and then we took this walking tour behind the falls, which was also really cool. Then we went back to the hotel for a bit, because we were all soaked and filthy and I heard that Avatar was on at 5:30 on one of the Canadian chanels, so we went back and we watched it (the episode was The Drill, so it didn't completely cure my AWS as an episode like The Southern Air Temple or The Earth King would have, but it was still good watching it) and we all said yay. Then we went back to the town of Niagra Falls and ate in this resturant called The Keg and watched this lights show on the falls, and a fireworks show over the falls, and it was pretty and everything.

Saturday (yesterday)

There isn't really all that much to say about yesterday except we came home. And somehow coming home took all day. We were supposed to take a 5:30 flight out of Toronto, but because of delays we didn't get on the plane until about 8:00. Of course these delays were the most ridiculous things ever- the plane that was supposed to take us to LaGuardia was flying in from Miami, and that was late. Anywho we got on the plane at 8:00, we get up to the runway, and we get a ground stop. Because it's thunderstorming in New York. First they say it's going to be half an hour, than another hour... we didn't take off until 10:30. To be fair, as we were flying, I did see thunderclouds and lightning was flashing in them which made them all pretty and stuff, but we get to the City, call for a car to pick us up, and the driver tells us it wasn't raining at all yesterday- it was sunny and hot.
Airlines suck.

Today

So, back to today's news... there isn't much of it. Just basically recooperating from yesterday. I woke up at 11, took a shower, caught up with my internet stuff, went down to Duene Reade to buy some crappy makeup because I saw some stuff that looked good in my Trashy Airport Magazine, and I thought I would get it... but nothing really happened.
And apparantly I'm in a new comic by Jenny, which is pretty cool.
Beyond that, nothing much is happening today... I might have something tomorrow though.

Well, it's more like IN NIAGRA FALLS!! now but... whatever.
So yesterday we drove to our place by Niagara Falls. It's called the Great Wolf Lodge, and it's got a lot of cool stuff- it's really fun and all- but the accomadations are awful. We're all bascially staying in one room, so that kinda sucks, especially when I'm trying to fall asleep and Dad keeps snoring. But this place is still really fun, they have several pools, and even an indoor water park, and mini-golf and everything. The mini-golf isn't the best though, it's aimed toward kids so it's got all these talking animals saying schtik-y stuff, and once I tried to step over some rocks onto this grassy part, but what I didn't know was that the grass was wet, so I slipped and scraped my foot, which kinda hurt.
Okay, this has been one of my most ADD entries ever, but basically the Great Wolf Lodge is fun to be at, but awful to stay in if you're over the age of 10.

Screw Chicago, Toronto is the windy city.
So yesterday wasn't my best day, I got sick and had to sleep through most of it... on the bright side though, when I woke up I got to watch Seinfeld and the Simpsons, so that kinda rocked. I felt better yesterday evening though, so we went with some family friends to this district called The Distillery. It was pretty cool, really quaint and historical, but good. They had this chocolate shop there which has this amazing chocolate, and we got a whole bagful of it.
Today is our last full day in Toronto, which kinda sucks. In the morning we were going to go to the CN tower (the sky needle) but they charge a ridiculous amount to go to the top (like, 25 Canadian dollars each) so we basically decided to screw that and we went to Fort York. That was actually pretty cool, except it's from the War of 1812, and during that we (the Americans) completely decimated the place, so it was kind of awkward when they started trashing us. Not us personally, but the Americans. We didn't mention where we're from while we were there.
So just now mom and I went shopping in this kind of East Villiage-ish place, it had a lot of vintage stores and such stuff, so that was pretty cool, I got some awesome stuff.
And we're about to go to dinner, and mom really wants me off the computer, so I kind of have to stop now...

Wow, I've done a lot in 3 days...
Saturday I got up at reasonable hour, which left me increadibly tired for the hours following, and went to LaGuardia Airport, where I (with my family) got my tickets, checked my bag, and waited for the airline system to stop being stupid so I could get on the plane. Yes, everything was delayed by at least an hour, because the day before it was thunderstorming for half an hour, so they cancelled everything. Because that's just the story of my life. Anywho, I finally get on the flight, and we take off, the flight is about an hour, and we proceed to have the bumpiest landing I have ever experienced, resulting in me doing things that you don't want to hear about if you're eating, about to eat, or just ate. After that, we get to our hotel, which is very nice- it's a Mariott- and we proceed to go out to lunch. My friend Julia had been here before, and she suggested we take a Hippo Bus Tour, and so we did, and that was really cool!! It's this tour of Toronto that drives you around to all the major sites in the city, and then it goes in the water and shows you Ontario Place, the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) and the Toronto skyline, which is actually fairly nice. So we did that, and then we just went out for dinner, came back to the hotel, and I started chanel surfing for a Canadian chanel that would have Avatar.
On Sunday we went to Ontario Place, which is basically this huge theme park, and we did some of the rides, some mini-golf at which I lost spectacularly, and went into this giant mirror-maze-thing, which was really awesome. There was one point there where we're in the mirror part of it, and it's only really lit by ultra-violet lights, and I looked in a mirror, smiled, and all that I could see of myself was a set of teeth. It was really freaky, but really cool too.
Yesterday (Monday) we went to the Ontario science museum. It was fairly cool, they had this exhibit on the Titanic where they had actual artifacts from it and everything, and then at the gift shop they had the "Heart of the Sea", which was basically a fake thing that was like the necklace from Titanic (the movie) and I would have gotten it, except it costed a frillion dollars.... Thier science museum is alright, but it doesn't have anything compared to the New York Sciene Museum.
Yeah, that's basically my vacation so far... I'll post more when I get the chance!!
arthoniel: (Dorker Girl)
Yeah, so nothing much else has really been happening. This would be a completely useless entry, except I wanted to say how much it rocks that I'M GOING TO TORONTO TOMORROW!!!! I'm totally flipping out, I'm so excited!!
Okay, that was really it....
